Street to Sky publishes streets, buildings, transit for readers who want the working version rather than the promotional one.
Our house style is analytical, spatial, evidence-led. We would rather publish one piece that holds up than five that fill a schedule.
What we cover
The site is organised into 6 sections:
- Streets — Pavements, crossings, kerbs and the metre-by-metre design of moving through a city.
- Buildings — Housing, towers, facades and what a building does to the block around it.
- Transit — Metro, bus, tram and bike networks, judged on whether people actually use them.
- Planning — Zoning, permits, density and the paperwork that decides a skyline.
- Public Space — Squares, parks, benches and the places that cost nothing to stand in.
- Climate & Cities — Heat, water, shade and retrofitting cities that were built for a different climate.
Who writes it
Every article carries a named writer with a profile page, and nothing is published anonymously. You can see the full list on our writers page.
How it is funded
We are advertising-funded and independently owned. No advertiser sees an article before publication, and none has ever been offered the chance. See the editorial policy.
